12 remand prisoners at Zenu-Atadeka in the Ashaiman Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have reportedly escaped from jail with a technique the police least expected.
The incident is said to have happened on the day of Easter when a sergeant opened the jail cell to place one of the suspects in custody.
According to the Police who confirmed the jailbreak to MyNewsGh.com, immediately he opened the cell, the inmate poured the hot porridge which had been served to them around 6:40 am in his face and this enabled all the others to flee.
All 12 remand prisoners have been identified as Basit Sulemana, Richard Remeo, Ibrahim Adams, Sumaila Karim, Musah Ali, Musah Ibrahim, Sulemana Ibrahim, Abu Sadique, Mubarak Seiti, Ibrahim Fuseini, Aziz Fuseini and Amish Akorli.
Meanwhile, escapee suspect Ibrahim Adams has been re-arrested at Kubekro Number 2 in an uncompleted building while the police hunt the others.
