Media General’s new addition, Mona Gucci has suggested that teachers who post videos of their struggling pupils on social media to be ridiculed be punished as their irresponsible actions are tantamount to cyber-bullying.
Teachers, in recent times, are fond of uploading videos and photos of their pupils who fumble with academic works onto various social platforms as a way to have fun.
According to her, such actions have adverse effects on the developmental growth of a child. Mona further explained that this can make a child desolate and withdraw from society.
She said, “A trained teacher who is supposed to be well mannered picks up their phone to video a child. Asking them questions whilst the whole class laughs at them. As if that is not enough, you post this video on social media. Henceforth the law is going to work. As a teacher, do you not know that all these things amount to cyberbullying?”
The hostess on the “Bribi Gye Gye Wo” show on Onua TV pointed out that such children may become targets for bullies in their school. She also mentions that some children may use suicide as a way to avoid their pain.
