Eight members of Ghana’s parliament have jointly submitted a private bill to push for the criminalization of LGBTQI+ activities. The bill is spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam George.
The other Members of Parliament joining hands with Sam George include; Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor (MP, South Dayi), John Ntim Fordjour (MP, Assin-South), Della Adjoa Sowah (MP, Kpando), Helen Adjoa Ntoso (MP, Krachi West), Rita Naa Odoley Sowah (MP, La Dadekotopon), Emmanuel Bedzrah (MP, Ho West) and Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini (MP, Tamale North).
Sam George’s quest to see to it that LGBTQ activities are criminalized has already faced fierce opposition.
On July 24, 2021, Sam George clashed with Sister Derby, Lydia Forson, Kwadwo Sheldon and former UK legislator Seb Dance on issues regarding the criminalization of LGBTQ.
Be that as it may, the presence of human rights does not mean that everything ought to be acceptable. In Sam George’s ‘mega clash’ with Seb Dance, Sam inquired of Seb to give reasons for the criminalization of polygamy. However, Seb appeared to ‘dodge’ the question by referring to it as a ‘red herring’. Sam George also asked a profound question; ‘who should procreate for you to adopt?’
Yoo Seb, listen up. I now understand your pain and anguish. You being a gay man and seeing other men do what real men do with women must be really painful. You have my sympathies. Keep your perversion to yourself in London and let me keep my laws in Accra.

Irrespective of the fact that it’s a free world, it’s imperative that issues of human rights abuse are examined vis-a-vis the laws of nature. The point?
You may have your rights but the basic features of the law include naturalism and legal paternalism. Legal paternalism is the feature which protects us from causing harm even to ourselves and it explains why refusal to put on seat belts and suicide are crimes. One of the major dangers of anal sex is faecal incontinence, a situation whereby one is unable to control his egestion……that’s why they wear pampers………..
The bottom line is that LGBTQ is not part of the acceptable Ghanaian socio-cultural practices. Again, the question is ‘who should procreate for you to adopt?’ Why is Ghana being put under undue pressure from the Western world to accept LGBTQ? Is it an effect of neo-colonialism and imperialism?
It is a fallacy to assume that prior to colonization, all the cultural practices that Ghanaians used to engage in were primitive. In the same vein, it is also a fallacy to accept that everything that is propagated by the whites is good and must be accepted as ‘modernization’. We must rather be concerned about the continuous moral decay of the Ghanaian youth vis-à-vis the influence of the Western media.
Globally renowned celebrities who are homosexuals include; Elton John, Leonardo di Caprio, Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini, Vin Diesel, Jennifer Lawrence and Zoe Kravitz, Rob Kardashian, Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley, Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell as well as Terrence Howard and Tyler Perry…….but Ghana is Ghana!
Fun fact: Do you know that the rainbow colored dresses which has become a fashion trend is actually the colors which have been adopted by the LGBT Community to help them in the fight to make their acts legal all over the world?
Some Ghanaian celebrities have also defended gay rights and have countlessly advocated for the rights of the LGBT community to be respected. They include;
Sam says to be “worthy” to rant against politicians/people in power you must have a workable solution.
Don’t you campaign on the basis that you have solutions to problems and when elected will fix them.
“You too are you also homosexual?”🤔
because you seem obsessed with them. https://t.co/C0z6eCRtrw

Deborah Vanessa (Sister Derby)
Now you claim you were deceived? By who exactly? And you claim not to have attacked me personally? What were you drinking when you posted these then? Ain't nothing sexist about pointing out weak and flawed arguments fueled by misplaced emotions. pic.twitter.com/7w1dqt4bF7

Michael Essien’s support for the LGBTQ community resulted in the loss of some of his Twitter followers.
Ghanaians who have openly declared that they are gays include;
Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah (DKD)
Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah (DKD) is the son of ace broadcaster, Kwasi Kyei-Darkwah (KKD). DKD is a model, a stylist and an art director.
Panji Anof is a central figure in the development of Ghanaian music and is the CEO of Pidgen Music. Panji Anof has worked with; Kofi Ghanaba, Mac Tontoh, Reggie Rockstone, King Ayisoba as well as Yaa Pono.
The former Metro TV news anchor who’s presently at Euro News has also declared that he is gay.
I am gay. And will always be. I love men. I hope this is no longer news. Proud to be my truest and authentic self. I have never felt this liberated. 🏳️🌈 pic.twitter.com/yy2qepyfUw
